Skewby "Proving You Wrong Since 1988" Mixtape Release Party ReCap
So Let Me Be The First To Say, I Knew That Skewby's "Proving You Wrong Since 1988" Mixtape Release Party Would Be Good, But By 7:00PM We Had Smashed Good and Were Well On Our Way To Amazing. We Had All Worked Hard To Make This Something To Remember But I Just Couldn't Stop The Doubtful Thoughts From Creeping Through My Busy Mind As 5:30PM Rolled Around "Maybe People Are Getting Sick Of Having So Much Fun At Our Parties", "I Know Hip Hop Is Alive In Memphis, But Are They Ready For Skewby", "Did We Invite Enough People". Those Thoughts Were Quickly Washed Out Of My Head As The Crowd Quickly Swelled Anxiously Awaiting The Man We Were All There To See.
7:30PM Came and Went and No One Seemed To Mind Waiting On Skewby As They Browsed The New Arrivals, Waited To Be Checked Out At The Front Counter, Danced To The Music, and Socialized With Friends They Only Ever See At Sneak Peek Events.
I Looked At My Watch Once More At 7:34Pm and As I Began To Ring Up Another Customer, I Heard A Loud Yell and the Clapping of Hands As The Young Artist Walked Through The Door.
It Was At That Moment That I Saw Cameron "Skewby" Smith Go From Just Another Local Memphis Rapper, To A Superstar As He Stopped To Shake Hands With Friends, Family, and Fans Prior To Getting On The Mic and Ripping The Show.
Truthfully, The Rest Is History, As We Partied, Listened To Skewby, and Networked For The Remainder of The Night.
Memphis' Music Scene Changed On That Night As Everyone In The Building Was Able To See That No Longer Is It About Guns, Drugs, and Disgracing Woman. You Can Actually Rap With Substance and People Will Appreciate You Just As Much.
I Pray That Friday September 25, 2009 Was Only The Beginning Of A Great Musical Career For Skewby and His Team.
Sneak Peek Would Like To Thank Some Specific People For Making The Event A Success. First and Foremost, The Man of The Hour Skewby, For Showing Up and Showing Out. Second, The Employees of Sneak Peek Marcus, Gavin, Corey, Tony Balentine, Akeara "Graphic Queen" Williams, Shalishah "Petey", and Sherman (Fli Pelican) + Nino Brown (Fli Pelican). Third, All of Skewby's Team Including But Not Limited To DJ Crumbz, DJ Charlie White, Afro D, Antonio Tubbs, Pat Johnson, Skewby's Mom, etc. Lastly, Super Thanks and Love Go Out To All That Made Sneak Peek The Place To Be On Friday Night, We Hope That You All Enjoyed Yourselves and That You All Continue To Support Us In The Future.

Skewby "Proving You Wrong Since 1988" Mixtape Release Party At Sneak Peek Friday September 25, 2009
I Am So Proud To Blog About This Event That Its Really Difficult For Me To Choose My Words Correctly. I Met This Young Rapper By The Name Of Skewby A Little Over A Year Ago and Since That Day We Had A Instant Bond Centered Around Not Only Superficial Topics Like Music and Fashion But Also About More Important Things Like The Future Of Memphis, Life, and How We Can Put This City On The Map By Striving To Be Our Best. I Have Grown To Love (No Homo) and Respect Skewby and I Am So Proud To Finally See Him Complete This Project, It Also Brings Sneak Peek Great Honor That He Would Chose Our New Location At 515 S. Main Street To Release This To The Public. I Already Know That Skewby Is The Next Big Thing To Come Out Of Memphis and Hopefully The One That Will Help Inspire More Rap Artist Who See Him To Broaden Their Topics Of Discussion Past Guns, Money, Drugs, and Women. He Deserves This Day and I Hope That All Lovers of Hip Hop That Reside In Memphis Will Join Us To Congratulate Skewby On The Completion of "Proving You Wrong Since 1988". Truthfully I Hope That Even The Haters Show Up So That He Can Once and For All Prove Yall Wrong. If You Are Not Familiar With Cameron "Skewby" Smith Check Out Some Of The Video Below Including Live Performances From Skewby and A Huge Stamp Of Approval From Bad Boy South Artist Gorilla Zoe. Sneak Peek Remembers 9/11
Not Much To Say, I Remember This Day 8 Years Ago and Everything That Happened Immediately Following. I Was Heartbroken Just Thinking About How My Country Was Being Attacked. Though America Is Steadily Recovering, We Will Never Be The Same After 9/11/2001. We All Pray For Those Who Lost Loved Ones During That Attack and The War That Has Taken Place In Response and We Show Gratitude To Those Who Helped In The Rescue Effort and Whom Are Fighting Overseas For Our Protection and Safety. We Love You All and God Bless.

Jay-Z Blueprint 3 Review + Food For Thought With Jay-Z
In All Honesty I Unwrapped This Most Recent Installment To My Jay-Z Collection Not Really Knowing What To Expect. Reading Some Of The Reviews Regarding The Album, From People Who's Music Opinions I Really Trusted and Other Hip Hop Artist, You Would Have Thought The Album Would Have Been A Complete Dud. For Example, Rapper Big Pooh of Little Brother Tweeted These Messages To His Followers:
- Rapper Big Pooh From Little Brother and The Justice League Twittered The Following:
* RapperBigPooh yep..just listened to the new Hov..def gotta ride to it but off of first listen..naw Hov...
* RapperBigPooh sounds like he in his "i know what the young boys wanna hear" mode
* RapperBigPooh i do fuck wit the Pharrell joint and the joint wit J Cole..the Empire State of Mind joint and and the What We Talkin Bout joint
* RapperBigPooh Finally on train, better than driving..bout 2 really listen to this BP3,quick listen it sounds as if a GREAT rapper made an AVERGE album
The Album Was Leaked Almost Two Weeks Prior To Its Official Release Date of September 11, 2009 Causing Jay-Z To Push The Date Up To September 8th. For 2 Weeks I Refused To Listen To Anything I Wasn't Supposed To Be Hearing From The Blueprint 3, Not Because I Believed Anything The Other Listeners Had To Say But More Out Of Loyalty To The Man I Often Refer To As My Dad (Jay-Z). On Monday September 7th I Felt Like A Child On Christmas Eve, All I Could Think About Was Sitting At My Computer At 12:01AM Tuesday September 8th and Downloading The Album Directly From iTunes. Unfortunately They Failed Me and Still Had The Release Date Scheduled For Friday The 11th of September, So I Was Forced To Wait Until The Morning To Grab It From Best Buy. Along With The Blueprint 3 I Also Purchased The Entire Blueprint Series That Came In A Special Edition Blueprint Box/ Casing Which Is Extremely Impressive.
When I Got To The Actual Music I Was Equally Impressed, Not Because Of My Sworn Allegiance To Mr. Carter, But Because It Was Good Music, Which I Don't Hear Often. I Often Tell People, The Reason I Am So Attracted To The Music Of Jay-Z Is Because It Has Somewhat Been A Blueprint and a Guide To My Life. Often Jay-Z Talks On Subjects and Situations I Have Been Through, I Am Now Currently Going Through, or One Day I Am Sure I Will Go Through. For Some Time Now I Have Felt As Though Jay-Z Was Speaking The Future To Me, I Clearly Understood His Music, and Enjoyed It, But He Was Speaking On Many Subjects That I Was Not Personally Experiencing At The Time or Had Experienced In The Past. I Loved Reasonable Doubt Because I Was There In My Life At The Time I Began To Listen To It, 2003 (I Have Been Listening To Jay-Z Since 1996 But I Rediscovered Him and My Love For His Music In 2003 When I Got A Brand New Copy of Reasonable Doubt). The Blueprint 3 Feels As Though Jay-Z Has Been Living My Life and Been In My Mind, a Perfect Album and Soundtrack For What I Am Currently Going Through; In Business, In Relationships, and Just My Life In General. Something I Often Feel People Miss About Jay-Z Is The True Lyricism He Exhibits. Sometimes He Is The Type Of Artist Whos Music Can Be Understood On The Surface, But Often His Lyrics Are So In Depth That The Average Listener Misses The Meaning and Plays It As Someone Making Average Music, Which It Definitely Is Not. On The Blueprint 3 Jay-Z Touches On Many Subjects, Ranging From The Good and Bad of Success, Friendships, Relationships, Judgement, and Many Other Topics of Interest. The Blueprint 3 Features Guest Artist Appearances From Kanye West, Drake, Kid Cudi, Jay-Z's First RocNation Artist J.Cole, Alicia Keys, Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz, Rihanna, and Mr. Hudson. I Am Totally Understanding of the Fact That A Lot of People Don't Understand Jay-Z, People Often Try To Throw Him In The Box With Other Artist But You Can Not Compare His Music or His Albums With Any Other Hip Hop Artist Past or Present, Which Is A Mistake I Feel A Lot Of People Make When Ranking Jay-Z's Music.
I Give The Blueprint 3 a Rating of a 9 Out Of 10. Only Because I Wish That All The Featured Artist Would Have Been Allowed To Rap On The Songs With Him (Drake Sings The Hook On "Off That" and Kid Cudi Sings On "Already Home"). The Blueprint 3 Is A Must Buy For All Who Consider Themselves Fans of Hip Hop Music. Trust Me With All The B.S Music Out Here, Your Ears Will Thank You For This Album. I Hope That This Review Leads You To Buy The Album. I Tried To Listen With A Non-Bias Ear and Give It A Honest Review, Which I Think I Have Accomplished. Please Feel Free To Comment and Let Us Know What You Think About The Blueprint 3 or Anything I Had To Say Above. Enjoy and Until We Speak Again PEACE.
Bonus Coverage: Just In Case You Missed BET's Food For Thought Conversations With Jay-Z, It Has Been Posted Below. This Video Gave A Brief but In-Depth Look Into The Career, Mindset, Past, Present, and Future Of The Artist. He Sat Down In Manhattan, New York For Interviews With Harry Allen, Angie Martinez, and Steven A. Jackson On A Matter of Subjects. It Truly Shows His Intelligence, Charm, and Exactly Why He Is In The Position That He Is. I Caught Glimpse of This In The Barber Shop and Found Myself Angry. Arguably One of the Greatest Personalities/ People of My Lifetime, and The Idiots In The Shop Had The Nerve To Be Arguing About Non-Sense Keeping Me From Watching. It Was At That Moment I Became Depressed and Discouraged Because It Was A Clue To Exactly Why We As African Americans Are In The Position That Many of Us Find Ourselves In. There Should Not Have Been An Eye That Wasn't Watching This. Jay-Z Is Successful On Some Other Level Type Stuff. We All Claim To Want To Be There, Yet We Don't Stop To Look, Listen, and Learn When He Speaks. Pure Ignorance, Unless Success Is Not Your Goal. I Would Have Loved To Do A Study but I'm Sure If Gucci Mane Was Speaking or Scarface Was On There Wouldn't Have Been A Word Said. Ummmmmmmmmm, I Will Pray For Them, But I Know Where I Want To Go Along With How I'm Gonna Get There, and There Is No Doubt That Jay-Z Along With Great Role Models Such As Dr. Martin Luther King, President Barack Obama, Dr. Frank A. Thomas, and My Dad The Real Kevin Brumfield For Helping Me Realize That.

New Music Monday: Drake - Fear
This Is Drake's Second Feature On New Music Monday In The Last 2 Weeks and After Hearing A Snippet Of His Feature On Jay-Z's - Blueprint 3, I Am Sure This Won't Be The Last. This Is Said To Be A Track That Drake Has Been Working On For Some Time, I Guess It Is Properly Titled "Fear" Because It Talks About Success and The Downfalls Of It. In His Short Music Career, Drake Has Sure Seen A Lot of Earlier Success and Failure. The Jury Is Still Out On Whether or Not He Will Weather the Storm and Live Up to the Expectations Created By The Release of His Multiple Mixtapes, but There Is No Doubt In My Mind That He Will Get His Career Together and Give the World What They Have Been Waiting For. Since Hurting His Knee During a Performance In July, Drake's Debut Album "Thank Me Later" Has Been Pushed Back For A Later Release (February 14, 2010), But Previously Released Mixtape "So Far Gone" Has Been Remastered, and Some New Tracks Added Like "Fear" For An Official Store and Paid Digital Release. Drake, Great Work On This Track and We Are Still Anxiously Awaiting The New Album. Below Is A Comment From Drake On "Fear" Which I Pulled From www.RapRadar.com
"That's gonna be the last song on the retail [version of] So Far Gone. And the third verse transitions into Thank Me Later. So the last line of the third verse is gonna be the first line on my album."— Drake

Sneak Peek Grand Re-Opening ReCap - August 28, 2009
We Pulled It Off In Less Then 20 Days and From The Reaction of The Old and New Loyals You Would Think We Never Left. Over 400 People Came Through the Doors At 515 S. Main Street To Celebrate The Opening of Our New Store and They All Had A Ball. It Was Seriously Like A Reunion of Old Friends and Family As Many of Those In Attendance All Became Friends After Meeting One Another At Sneak Peek or One of Our Events. Attendees Toured The New Store, Purchased Lots of Our New Inventory, Listened To Dope Music by DJ Witnesse, Enjoyed a Live Performance By Memphis' Based Rapper Total Savage, and Visited the Other Stores and Art Exhibitions on S. Main Street. All Together We Would All Say It Was a Great Night and Something We Hope To Continue At Sneak Peek. If You Missed The Grand Re-Opening Below Are A Couple Photos. We Hope That You Decide To Visit Sneak Peek In the Near Future For All Your Streetwear Needs.

New Music Monday: Jamie Foxx featuring Drake, Kanye West, and The Dream
Found this while cruising one of my new favorite sites Rap Rader. This is a very good look for all of the artist involved in the project, especially Drake and Kanye West, which we haven't heard much new music from in a while. Though the video seems to be very similar to Lloyd's - "Girls Around The World" video, its still pretty interesting. Fell free to let us know what you think and Until We Speak Again PEACE.
